2220. Peter12 Blin was born in Stepney Parish, London, England about 1641.
It is believed that he left England -- perhaps due to the plague, the following Great London fire of 1666, or some other reason -- and arrived at Wethersfield sometime before 1670.
Peter Blin was a bilingual (French/English) attorney in England, but worked as a furniture maker during his new life on this side of the Atlantic. To find examples of his pieces you can visit the Wethersfield Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of New York, and the Edison Institute in Dearborn, Michigan. Literature describes them as Jacobean-style Sunflower chests.
He married Joanna 1669 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. Joanna was born about 1645 in CT. Joanna died shortly after Margaret's birth in 1681 (or perhaps because of it?) and he remarried. His second wife was named Mary _________.
Peter Blin died on 7 March of 1724 or 1725. His headstone at the cemetery (Congregational Meeting House, Wethersfield) declares: "Here lies the body of Peter Blin, who departed this life March 7 in the 85[th] year of his age [sic]."
